In 1966, William C. Coonrod invented fiberglass molded grating in his Dallas, Texas, garage. That first panel was the beginning of Fibergrate. We are now an international company with a presence in 11 countries, and our customers have installed Fibergrate products on projects in more than 40 countries on 7 continents.
Fibergrate decking panels have been installed on off-shore oil rigs for over 50 years now making it one of the longest time-tested decking materials in the world. It has held up to the intense sun and corrosive salt water environments over this time frame.
In addition, Fibergrate worked closely in the 1990’s with the Army Corps of Engineers to come up with a decking solution that would allow light penetration to feed the protected sea-grasses. In Florida, the Army Corps of Engineers came up with a minimum open area of 43% to give adequate sunlight to the sea-grasses. Fibergrate meets or exceeds these guidelines.
